The Challenge:

Demolish half of an existing medical office facility and rebuild as a state-of the-art cancer center without disrupting the medical and dental practices remaining in operation on the site.

AE Design Solution:

We designed a facility that could be built in the narrow space created by demolition without blocking access to the remaining entrances or exterior corridors. A two-story entrance enhanced the presence of the single-story structure on a main hospital road. The completed center features one of only six CyberKnife vaults in Florida that provides treatment options for non-traditional patients. By including additional shielding conduits and utilities, the center can also readily accommodate future treatment modalities.
