The Challenge:

AE Design replaced the existing Varian 18mv equipment in a cramped radiation bunker with a new state-of-the-art Trilogy system with OBI and IMRT capability, plus a cutting edge BrainLab system. The existing space layout allows only eight feet of control console, squeezed next to the entry maze.

AE Design Solution:

AE Design’s solution divides the treatment area from the open-air atrium at the rear of the vault, and relocates the modulator cabinet into the resulting space. The false panel wall added behind the gantry also allows room for the BrainLab equipment. The control console is designed to allow the electronic cabinet to be moved out, fully maximizing the available space.
