The Challenge:

Design a replacement facility for Mercy Hospital's radiation oncology department that utilized 12,000 square feet of new space and 8,000 square feet of renovated space to provide two vaults, access to clinical areas, and medical offices that could be built while the surrounding facilities remained operational.

AE Design Solution:

With thorough programming and master planning, we took a restrictive project site and created in-patient access to new clinical areas, a new conference center and medical offices, and two concrete shielded vaults with dual energy IMRT for Elekta linear accelerators, along with expansion planning for an additional vault. By producing a detailed phasing plan, we enabled construction to proceed without disrupting the occupied spaces around the project site
